In commemoration of the 55th ASEAN Day on 8 August 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi, as a current chair of ASEAN New Delhi Committee (ANDC), organised an ASEAN Flag Raising Ceremony at the Embassy’s Chancery. The event was attended by all Heads of ASEAN Missions in New Delhi.

In the afternoon, H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India, gave her remarks at the “55th ASEAN Day Celebration” Seminar, co-hosted by ASEAN-India Centre and the Ministry of External Affairs of India. Ambassador Hongtong highlighted four priorities that ASEAN and India could jointly work on which are (1) advancing connectivity, particularly through India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway, and enhancing P2P connectivity through the tourism cooperation (2) accelerating digitalisation through further cooperation on infrastructure development, manpower advancement, and business matching between start-ups (3) fostering green growth, especially in the areas of renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, and climate-friendly industries, as guided by BCG Model, and (4) advancing health security through joint R&D, manufacturing of medicines and vaccines, as well as cooperation in traditional medicines.

This year marks 30th anniversary of ASEAN-India relations, which has been designated as “ASEAN-India Friendship Year”. Under the Royal Thai Embassy’s ANDC chairmanship, several activities are planned to be organised in New Delhi to celebrate the special occasion and further enhance the ASEAN-India relations.
