On 6 May 2022, Ambassador Krongkanit Rakcharoen congratulated Siam Cement Group Chemicals or SCGC and Sirplaste on the closure of their business deal that allows SCGC to acquire a 70% stake in Sirplaste, a leading plastic recycling company in Portugal with the capacity of 36,000 tons per year.

Sirplaste is the biggest plastic recycling company in Portugal and has been a leader in Portuguese recycled plastics manufacturing industry with more than 40 years of professional experience.

With similar business practices shared by both SCGC and Sirplaste, the collaboration will increase the potential of recycled plastics and allow SCGC to broaden customer base. It serves also as a significant step forward in SCGC’s pursuit of becoming the “Chemicals Business for Sustainability,” through adherence to circular economy principles.

On this occasion, Ambassador and her team had an opportunity to visit the recycling plant of Sirplaste where she received a briefing on the business activities, goal, future plan and professional management of Sirplaste.
