During 23-27 May 2023, the Thai Trade Office in Abuja and the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja accompanied 42 Nigerian and Ghanaian food industry business delegation to attend THAIFEX-ANUGA ASIA 2023 in Thailand. The event showcased one of the biggest food related items, industries and services in Asia. The top displayed and selling items were food items, frozen food, fruits and vegetables. The event also showcased food science, technology and innovation, as well as food services and food machineries. Direct trading during event was estimated to be around 30 million USD and a lot more penned down in contracts.

The event was very well received by the Nigerian and Ghanaian business communities. During the event, the Nigerian and Ghanaian business owners met with many Thai business owners, companies, food conglomerates and potential business partners through business matching sessions. They enjoyed roaming around the fair and browsing through extensive products that would enhance their business capacities and capabilities back in Nigeria and Ghana. During the event, the Nigerian and Ghanaian delegation penned down purchases amounting to 227,000 US dollars, with a further 14 million US dollars tied in contracts over the next 1 year.

The event was timely as Thailand, Nigeria and Ghana look to resume and boost the all-important trade relations post Covid-19 pandemic. The Royal Thai Embassy and the Thai Trade Office in Abuja are committed to facilitate, assist and drive trade relations between Thailand, Nigeria and Ghana for the benefits of the peoples of our nations.
