His Excellency Mr. João Gomes Cravinho, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic, is scheduled to visit Thailand between January 16-17, 2023. His Excellency will meet with His Excellency Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on January 17, 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host an afternoon tea in honour the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal and his delegation.

The visit will strengthen the dynamism of Thai-Portuguese bilateral relations and promote areas of mutual interests, especially in the commercial sector, the investment sector, and cooperation at the regional and the global levels. In addition, the visit is seen as a recognition of Portugal that Thailand is a trustworthy partner in the region.

This visit to Thailand is the first visit to Southeast Asia of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal since taking office. In addition, His Excellency Mr. Cravinho is the first foreign minister of the European Union to visit Thailand after the signing of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) between Thailand and the European Union during the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit in Brussels on December 14, 2022.

Besides, Portugal has the longest relations with Thailand amongst European countries, for more than 500 years (Year 2023 marks 512 years).
