On 13 February 2025, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary, and H.E. Mr. Heinrich Schellenberg, Assistant State Secretary for Asia and Pacific and Head of the Asia and Pacific Division of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the 7th Thai-Swiss Political Consultations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

The meeting was an excellent opportunity to strengthen Thai-Swiss bilateral relations and build upon the momentum of the signing of the Thai-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Free Trade Agreement on 23 January 2025 in Davos, Switzerland. Both sides discussed ways to enhance the Thai-Swiss cooperation through the exchange of high-level visits, promotion of trade and investment, as well as sectoral cooperation in education, science, medical technology, sustainable development, tourism, people-to-people relations and consular affairs.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed cooperation between Thailand and Switzerland in various multilateral fora, especially in the UN, including both countries’ membership to the Human Rights Council (HRC) for the term 2025-2027, support for the Thailand's accession to the OECD, Schengen visa exemption for Thai ordinary passport holders, and other regional and global issues.
