The Prime Minister of Thailand congratulated the new Prime Minister of Viet Nam during a telephone conversation on 12 May 2021. Both leaders agreed to further advance the “Strengthened Strategic Partnership” and economic cooperation between the two countries. They also discussed celebration of the 45th anniversary of Thailand – Viet Nam diplomatic relations.
On 12 May 2021, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, had a telephone conversation with H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, to congratulate the latter upon the assumption of his office as well as to discuss ways to further enhance the “Strengthened Strategic Partnership” between Thailand and Viet Nam.
The two Prime Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the Strengthened Strategic Partnership in all dimensions and supported regular exchange of high-level bilateral visits and dialogues. In particular, they look forward to the convening of the 4th Joint Cabinet Retreat later this year, if the situation permits, to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Thailand – Viet Nam diplomatic relations.
Both sides attached great importance to promoting bilateral trade and investment and strengthening economic linkages between the two countries. The Prime Minister of Thailand expressed his appreciation for the continued support from the Vietnamese Government for Thai investors, who have constructively contributed to the socio-economic development of Viet Nam.
They also agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in sub-regional, regional and global frameworks. The Thai side congratulated Viet Nam for the successful Chairmanship of the United Nations Security Council for the month of April 2021. The Vietnamese side pledged support for Thailand’s upcoming APEC chairmanship in 2022.
