On 25 March 2024, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, and H.E. Mr. Lee Jang-keun, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN, co-hosted the 12th Meeting of the ASEAN-ROK Joint Cooperation Committee (AKJCC) at the ASEAN Secretariat.

The Committee, comprising 10 Permanent Representatives to ASEAN and the Ambassador of ROK to ASEAN, took stock of cooperation under the ASEAN-ROK Plan of Action (2021-2025). As the Plan of Action expires this year, 92% of its Action Lines have already been addressed. The Meeting also exchanged views on the future ASEAN-ROK cooperation as the two sides are preparing a new five-year plan to succeed the current one.

Thailand is now the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations (June 2024-2027). This Meeting was the first AKJCC meeting held since ASEAN and the ROK elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024.
