Honourable Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, and spouse, will pay an Official Visit to the Kingdom of Thailand as guests of the Royal Thai Government during 9-10 February 2023, as part of introductory tour to ASEAN countries. He will be meeting with His Excellency General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand, on 9 February 2023.

The two Prime Ministers are expected to discuss cooperation on the promotion and integration of economic development in the Thai - Malaysian border area, particularly the five Southern Provinces of Thailand and the four Northern States of Malaysia. These include connectivities in trade, investment and infrastructure; the acceleration to achieve the bilateral trade target of USD 30 billion by 2025 through existing bilateral mechanisms to enhance trade facilitation and reduce barriers; and the promotion of cooperation in potential industries such as rubber, halal food and energy as well as in new areas such as digital economy and green technology. Both sides will also exchange views on regional and international developments to jointly address new challenges and stimulate post-COVID-19 economic recovery.

Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim became the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia on 24 November 2022.
