On 21 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister, held a virtual meeting in New York with Team Thailand in the United States comprising 22 Thai agencies. The Prime Minister stated that his Government placed high importance on good governance and the rule of law in governmental administration and prioritised measures to promote social harmony in all sectors of the society.

The Prime Minister informed the meeting of the Government’s main policies, with priority on redressing economic problems through measures to increase income, reduce household debt and enhance standard of living. He also stressed the importance of foreign policy that is led by proactive economic diplomacy, with an aim to seek new markets for Thai products by promoting economic cooperation and accelerating Free Trade Agreement negotiations with targeted countries to increase the country’s competitiveness. In addition, the Prime Minister requested Team Thailand to work proactively in an integrated manner to implement policies that would steadily drive the country forward, while reassuring his full support for Team Thailand.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also met about 200 Thai nationals living in New York, with online broadcast to Thai diaspora across the U.S., highlighting Thailand’s goal of having a leading role in international affairs while spearheading proactive economic diplomacy. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening Thai communities abroad.
