On 8 September 2025, H.E. Mr. Psusist Wongsurawat, Consul-General of Thailand in Penang, paid a courtesy call on CP Dato’ Ts. Azizee bin Ismail, Penang Police Chief Officer, at Penang Contingent Police Headquarters. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Kantapon Sangkhapreecha, Consul, Mr. Ari Endin Klay, Consular Assistant from the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Penang, DCP Dato’ Mohd Alwi bin Zainal Abidin, Penang Deputy Police Chief Officer, SAC, Dato’ Winston Tan Thye Wah, Head of Special Branch, and SAC Zailanni bin Amit, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department.
Consul-General of Thailand in Penang commended Penang Police’s active role in law enforcement in Penang. Both sides also discussed opportunity to strengthen cooperation, especially ways to help protect Thais in Penang. Consul - General also asked the Penang police’s assistance to inform the Royal Thai Consulate - General in Penang of any cases of Thai people arrested. Penang Police Chief Officer stated that crime rate in Penang has been reduced by 40 percent, comparing to 2024, while challenges remain in tackling online scammers and fake monk scam.
