The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Penang organised a volunteer activity to commemorate the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on 12 August 2025. H.E. The Consul-General of Thailand in Penang and participants received a briefing and viewed an exhibition on the history and conservation activities carried out by The Penang Botanical Gardens.
The betel nut palm tree, or locally known as “Pinang”, is the symbol and origin name of the State of Penang. However, due to significant decrease in betel nut palm tree recently, the Penang Government has promoted the planting of this kind of trees to revive the local plants and to preserve the rich environment of Penang. The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Penang organised this volunteer activity to commemorate the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, who has worked tirelessly and continuously towards the protection and conservation of our natural resources and biological diversity, such as the Royal Project on Restoration of Thai Orchids in the Wild and the Royal Project on Conservation of Rare and Endangered Plants
