On 10th August 2023, His Excellency Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) paid a courtesy call on H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Thailand, at the Government House. H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also joined the discussion.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government's commitment to strengthen partnership between Thailand and the OIC in all dimensions, especially the cooperation on development. The Thai side expressed its readiness to implement a Strategic Tripartite Partnership Cooperation in OIC member countries, particularly in the African region to share Thailand’s expertise in areas, such as agriculture, food security and public health. In addition, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that the Royal Thai Government's policies equally promote rights and freedoms for all religions. The OIC Secretary General expressed his respectful gratitude to His Majesty the King of Thailand as the patron of all faiths, and welcomed the constructive interactions between both sides. He also praised Thailand as an example of peaceful coexistence among peoples of different religions, as well as expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to him by the Royal Government of Thailand and the Thai people.

On the same day, the OIC Secretary General and his delegation visited the Sheikhul Islam Office of Thailand and had a meeting with Mr. Arun Boonchom, President of Sheikhul Islam Advisory Committee, which was the opportunity for the delegation to take note of the Sheikhul Islam Office’s contribution to the well-being of the Muslim community in Thailand. The OIC Secretary General expressed his readiness to support the works of the Sheikul Islam Office in all areas.
