During 22-23 March 2022, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs participated in the 48th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-CFM), under the theme “Partnering for Unity, Justice and Development,” held in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the OIC-CFM conference, DPM/FM Don met with Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Pakistan as well as the OIC Secretary-General to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and to exchange views about regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered a statement that highlighted the importance of cooperation, patience, and engagement between countries to resolve conflict while believing that the OIC, with a combined population of 1.5 billion people, can make a meaningful difference in the world. He further stated that the session can, therefore, be the beginning of renewed hope, aspiration, and alliance for peace and tolerance.

DPM/FM Don also met with the Thai Ambassador to Pakistan, the Thai Consul-General in Karachi, officers and staff from the Thai Embassy to exchange views and to give guidance about Team Thailand’s roles and missions. He then met with a group of representatives of the Thai students studying in Pakistan and presented them with souvenirs from Thailand.

Thailand became an observer to the OIC in 1998 and has enjoyed a cordial and constructive relationship with the organization on various aspects ranging from humanitarian assistance to halal food, educational and cultural cooperation.
