On 16 - 19 February 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appointed a representative, as a coordinator and an observer, to join the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Bangkok, which was granted access by Thai authorities to three provinces affected by the Thailand - Cambodia border situation; namely, Trat, Sa Kaeo and Surin. The purpose of the visit was to gather information on damages resulting from the hostilities, particularly those affecting civilians and civilian facilities, as well as the humanitarian impact on the local communities.

The ICRC delegation was briefed by the relevant local authorities who exchanged views with the former regarding the sequence of events, related operations, and the impacts of the hostilities. The delegation subsequently conducted field visits to survey and collect information on damages to civilian properties, as well as to interview affected civilians and eyewitnesses.

This visit marked the third time for which the ICRC was granted access to provinces affected by the Thailand - Cambodia border situation, which reflects Thailand’s continued commitment to cooperating with the ICRC and complying with international humanitarian law.
