On 13 January 2021, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, had a meeting with
H.E. Mr. HAGIUDA Koichi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of Minister HAGIUDA’s visit to Thailand to enhance economic relations between Thailand and Japan.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the close economic relations between Thailand and Japan in all dimensions and viewed that the visit to Thailand by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Investment of Japan supported the strengthening of the strategic economic partnership between Thailand and Japan, especially on the occasion of the 135th Anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan and Thailand’s APEC host this year.

The two Ministers discussed cooperation under the APEC framework, particularly on synergizing Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) Model and Japan’s Green Growth Strategy, Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP), connectivity, human resource development as well as
the promotion of future-oriented investment through co-creation between Thailand–Japan private sectors under Japan’s “Asia-Japan Investing for the Future” Initiative, which will benefit the economic and social developments of both countries and the region at large. Both sides also exchanged views on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
