On 8 May 2025, Ms. Sasirit Tangulrat, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Fuwad Thowfeek, Ambassador of Maldives to Thailand, on the occasion of assuming his position. Both sides discussed bilateral matters and the promotion of Thailand-Maldives relations in various areas.

Both sides also sought ways to further enhance the relationship, particularly in trade and investment, as well as tourism. They also expressed readiness to strengthen relations through high-level visits, and to expedite negotiations on various agreements and MOUs, as well as expanding cooperation in public health and development cooperation.
