Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes Lao PDR media delegation

On 17 September 2026, Ms. Jaithai Upakarnitikaset, Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Mr. Somsavath Phongsa, Director-General of the Media Department, Commission for Information and Education of the Central Committee of Lao PDR, and Mr. Somkhit Vankham, Director-General of the Press Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR, together with the media delegation from Lao PDR the occasion of their visit to Thailand upon an invitation by the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane.
Both sides exchanged views and experiences on strategic communications, promoting the foreign policy priorities and missions, addressing fake news, adapting public relations and engagements to reach wider media and public with accurate information in a timely manner. The Thai side reiterated the close bilateral relations between the two countries as Lao PDR is Thailand’s important neighboring country with multi-faceted cooperation, and reaffirmed readiness to promote cooperation to exchange experiences in communications and public diplomacy, including supporting cooperation between the media of both countries.
The Lao PDR delegation also visited the Department of Information’s facilities, including the studio and press conference room on this occasion.
