Ambassador Presided Over the Opening Ceremony of Malaysia’s Premier Songkran Festival 2025 (2)

On 11 April 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, presided over the opening ceremony of the Malaysia’s Premier Songkran Festival 2025, organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with EQ Solutions from 10 to 20 April 2025 at Forecourt 1, 1Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
 
Following the Opening Ceremony, Ambassador Lada led attendees to participate in traditional Songkran activities, including the Rod Nam Dam Hua (water-pouring ceremony to honor elders), Ram Wong Rearng Songkran (Thai Songkran Dance), Len Nam (water-splashing festivity), contemporary Thai cultural performances, and wearing Thai traditional attires and Chang (elephant-painted) pants. The Royal Thai Embassy also brought in a statue of “Phra Phuttha Sirindhorn Theparat Mongkhol Phuwadol Santi” for the Song Nam Phra (ceremonial water-pouring ritual), as well as demonstrated the Tum Nam Ob (making of the traditional Thai floral-scented water). The Festival was successfully organised in a beautiful and lively manner, delivering both joy and meaningful cultural experiences. Attendees expressed their admiration for the strength and unity of the Thai community in Malaysia, while praising the vibrant and globally recognised “Thai identity.” The Malaysian media also showed great interest by providing extensive coverage of the Festival’s Opening Ceremony across various platforms.
 
The Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur warmly invites the public to join in the Songkran celebration and to explore Thai foods and products at the Malaysia’s Premier Songkran Festival 2025 from 10 to 20 April 2025 (Noon to Midnight) at Forecourt 1, 1Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The Embassy will also host the Yes’sir Days Concert, a music band from Thailand, on the night of 19 April 2025.
