On 10 April 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, along with Captain Jirapong Apichatwong (RTN.), Naval Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Thiti Limkhajorndet, Assistant Army Attaché, Ms. Tarinee Limchularattana, Minister Counsellor (Labour), and Team Thailand officials visited the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices, as well as to explore cooperation with Malaysia in the field of cybersecurity.
The Ambassador met with Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Lim, Chairman of MCMC, emphasizing Thailand’s determination to seeking cooperation with partner countries including Malaysia to enhance capabilities in cybersecurity, AI, and addressing common challenging issues, especially online scams and mis/disinformation. The MCMC Chairman reaffirmed the good friendship between Thailand and Malaysia and the importance of cooperation within ASEAN to address cyber threats.
Team Thailand received briefings from MCMC executives and staff regarding MCMC's roles in establishing regulations governing telecommunications and mass media service providers, responding to cyber threats and online scams, managing mis/disinformation, and raising awareness about safe internet usage. Both sides had an interactive exchange of views in constructive atmosphere, strengthening relationships and continuing cooperation between each other.
