On 9 July 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur organised the “Prime Minister’s Dialogue with the Thai Business Community in Malaysia” on the occasion of the Official Visit to Malaysia of His Excellency Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Thailand, during 9 - 10 July 2026. The Dialogue was moderated by Her Excellency Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, and brought together more than 30 representatives of the Thai business community in Malaysia from 17 companies/ organisations, alongside over 30 Cabinet Ministers and senior officials of the Royal Thai Government, at Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to the Thai business community in Malaysia for serving as an important pillar in promoting the longstanding friendship and close relations between Thailand and Malaysia, while reaffirming the Royal Thai Government’s commitment to supporting Thai businesses operating in Malaysia through close coordination with relevant authorities, addressing challenges faced by the private sector, facilitating trade, investment, and labour mobility, as well as promoting measures to enhance competitiveness and create new opportunities for sustainable business growth.
During the Dialogue, the Ambassador invited representatives from the seven key sectors represented at the meeting—namely energy; finance and banking; retail; agriculture, livestock and food; industrial products; logistics; and services—to exchange views on their business operations in Malaysia, share experiences and challenges, and discuss the future potential of Thailand – Malaysia trade and investment cooperation.
Representatives of the Thai business community commended the Royal Thai Government and the Royal Thai Embassy for their continued efforts in safeguarding the interests of Thai businesses in Malaysia and creating an enabling environment for business expansion, particularly the advancement of cross-border transport and infrastructure connectivity projects, as well as initiatives to promote greater market access for Thai products in Malaysia, while proposing further government support in such areas as tax incentives, the employment of Thai workers in Malaysia, enhanced import and export facilitation—particularly for agricultural, livestock, halal, and industrial products—and the strengthening of cross-border electricity interconnection to reinforce energy security for both countries and the region, among others.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister welcomed the constructive recommendations and valuable insights shared by the private sector, noting that these views would be carefully considered in formulating practical policy measures to better support Thai businesses abroad while further strengthening Thailand – Malaysia economic cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
