On 18 January 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to foster goodwill and strengthen the ties between Thailand and India, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, visited the Maitreya Buddha Social & Education Trust in Barandi, Bihar. During her visit, she presented 300 sets of stationary to the underprivileged children at the school, in addition to the Consulate’s previous contribution towards funding the construction of a multipurpose room. Each set included pens, notebooks and pencil boxes, aimed at providing the students with the essential tools to excel in their education. While modest, this initiative serves as a meaningful contribution to supporting the educational journey of these bright young minds. “Our goal is not only to contribute materially, but also to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Thailand and India,” said Consul-General Siriporn. “Through such initiatives, we hope to inspire the students and foster long-lasting connections between our two countries.

The Maitreya Buddha Social & Education Trust, founded under the supervision of the Venerable Nawang Tenzing, plays a vital role in uplifting the local community by providing education to children from underserved backgrounds. The Consulate’s support underscores the importance of mutual goodwill in building a stronger relationship between both nations.
