On 27 October 2022, H.E. Mr. Patrick Bourne, Ambassador of Ireland to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the Ambassador’s assumption of duty.

The Ambassador expressed his admiration for Thailand after his arrival in the Kingdom. Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations especially through the concretization of the outcome of the 1st Thailand-Ireland Political Consulations, convened on 1 July 2022 in Dublin. Key areas of potential cooperation include economics, education, culture and people-to-people contact. They also exchanged views on various regional issues of mutual interest. In addition, both sides also emphasized the importance of the Thai - EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) and the negotiations of the Thai - EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which would serve to enhance trade and investment relations between Thailand and Ireland.
