The Prime Minister highlighted 136 years of strong relationship between Thailand and Japan and complementary economic policies. Thailand has policies in place to promote the development of new economy, such as digital economy and green economy, which is in line with the Japanese government’s policy to produce high-quality products using high technology and green innovation, as well as support Japan's investments in Thailand in various areas, such as soft power, sustainable development, and the Landbridge Project. Japan has made investments in Thailand for decades and was Thailand’s 3rd biggest trading partner in 2022. More importantly, the Thai government is ready to support investments from existing and new Japanese businesses and collaborate with the Japanese public and private sectors to facilitate industrial elevation in response to the transition to new economy.

The Deputy Prime Minister, as BOI Chair, said the visit to Japan marks an opportunity for the Thai government to receive valuable inputs from Japanese businesses and partner agencies to improve Thailand’s policies on promoting foreign investments and facilitate Japanese businesses in different sectors in Thailand. The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized proactive economic diplomacy, which will boost economic growth for both Thailand and Japan, and invite the Japanese private sector to continue to make investments in Thailand, as the Thai government is ready to turn economic ties between Thailand and Japan into genuine economic partnership.

In addition, H.E. Mr. Saito Ken, the newly appointed Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), highlighted Thailand and Japan's close ties and the potential of cooperation in various industries, which will foster economic growth of both countries.
