On 29 November 2025, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, participated in the International Volunteer Day 2025 event held at Queen Sirikit Park under the theme, “Every Contribution Matters”. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Thailand, and Together Foundation for People with Disabilities and Society.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary delivered remarks commending ‘volunteerism’ in Thailand and emphasizing the important role of volunteers in driving sustainable development with various stakeholders, especially in localizing the SDGs. At the international level, the “Friends from Thailand” (FFT) program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dispatches Thai volunteers to support sustainable development and the attainment of the SDGs abroad. The Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) also exhibited a booth at the event, showcasing the FFT program to over 400 participants. The Deputy Permanent Secretary also joined the press conference to express Thailand’s intention to celebrate the upcoming “International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, 2026” (IVY 2026), and joined in packing essential items for flood-affected communities in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province.

The UNGA has designated 5 December as International Volunteer Day (IVD) to recognize the important role of volunteer service for development. On 17 August 2021, the Thai Cabinet approved the organization of events to commemorate IVD in Thailand every year.
