On 4 April 2025, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, attended the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action 2025 at Nimman Konlayut Fort, Sakaeo Province. The activity was presided over by General Saksit Sangchanintra, Director General of the Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC), and attended by representatives from the Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok, as well as relevant central and local agencies.
In her remarks, the Director-General reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment and the active role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaborating with other relevant agencies to fulfill its obligations under the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (APMBC) in all aspects. She also highlighted that Thailand’s efforts aimed to reduce the humanitarian consequences of anti-personnel mines and to enhance socio-economic development opportunities for affected communities, with the goals of becoming a mine-free country and contributing to a mine-free world.
The International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action is an annual event held on 4 April to raise awareness of the public and private sectors, as well as civil society worldwide, about the dangers of anti-personnel mines. It also aims to keep relevant stakeholders informed about humanitarian mine action in accordance with the obligations under the APMBC, to which Thailand has been a State Party since 1997.
