On 15 June 2023, Mr. Chairat Sirivat, Ambassador attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the Indo Pacific – European Union (EU) Cyber Ambassadors High-Level Roundtable in Brussels. The meeting was convened for the first time by the EU and attended by Cyber Ambassadors from the EU and Indo-Pacific countries to exchange on policy and trend on international cyber security.

Ambassador Chairat was invited to speak in the panel discussion entitled “The Growth of Cyber Diplomacy in an Evolving Cyber Threat Landscape” along with representatives from Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Germany where he shared Thailand’s experience in the implementation of national cyber laws including the National Cyber Security Act and participation in ASEAN and UN.

The panel also discussed the importance and challenge of cyber diplomacy in the current cyber threat landscape which has become more severe and complex. The meeting also stressed the need to incorporate cybersecurity in broader foreign policy and enhance cooperation among states as well as private sector, academia and civil society to build trust and capacity in response to evolving cyber threats.
