On 28 January 2024, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mrs. Retno Marsudi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat – AMM Retreat in Luang Prabang.

On bilateral relations, both sides discussed a wide range of issues, including exchange of high-level visits, Indonesia's request for purchase of Thai rice to support the country's food security, and convening of the Thailand-Indonesia Joint Commission (JC) and Joint Trade Committee (JTC) Meetings soon. They also discussed strengthening cooperation to combat human trafficking and other transnational crimes, particularly online scams, and IUU fishing.

On regional issues, both sides exchanged views on the situation in Myanmar and stressed the importance of working together to advance ASEAN's effort on Myanmar. The Thai side appreciated Indonesia’s active role as ASEAN Chair last year, while the Indonesian side expressed support for Thailand’s humanitarian initiative to help the Myanmar people along the Thai-Myanmar border, which is in line with the ASEAN's Five-Point Consensus.
