On 18 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government, presented a donation of 1.5 million Thai Baht to Mr. Ashoor Salem Ashoor Omran, Chargé d’affaires a.i., Embassy of the State of Libya, Bangkok, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. The donation is to be utilised in humanitarian assistance for all those affected by the devastating floods in the northeast of the State of Libya, especially in the city of Derna, and consitutes a gesture of the Kingdom of Thailand’s solidarity with the Government and the people of State of Libya as a true friend in the time of need.

Also present were H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Sarun Chareonsuwan, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Worawoot Pongprapapant, Director-General, Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs.

Based on the information from the Royal Thai Embassy in Rome, Italy, the jurisdiction of which covers the State of Libya, there are approximately 230 Thais, mostly workers, residing in the State of Libya. None has been reportedly affected by this disaster.
