Thailand hosts reception in Geneva to campaign for Thailand’s HRC candidature for term 2025-2027

On 28 February 2024, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, hosted a reception at the United Nations Office in Geneva, during the High-Level Segment of the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council (HRC), on Thailand's candidature to the HRC for the term 2025-2027.

VFM reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to contributing to the work of the HRC in ensuring its effectiveness and credibility with a view to maximizing the impact of HRC's work on people's lives. He also highlighted Thailand's approach in enhancing dialogue and constructive engagement as well as reiterated the readiness to work with all countries and stakeholders to advance human rights and address challenges for the benefit of future generations.

On the same day, VFM also had bilateral meetings with: (1) H.E. Lord Tariq Ahmad, Special Representative for Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict and Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, United Nations and the Commonwealth, UK; (2) H.E. Mr. Radek Rubeš, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czechia; (3) H.E. Mr. Christopher Grima, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Malta to the United Nations in Geneva; and (4) Mr. Adrian, Deputy Permanent Representative of Albania to the United Nations in Geneva, to request support for the candidature of Thailand for the HRC and exchanged views on international issues of mutual interest.
