On 9 October 2023, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, attended the Hong Kong - ASEAN Summit 2023 in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) of The People's Republic of China, where he delivered a keynote address entitled “Driving Strategic Connectivity for Regional Growth.”

In his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs shared his vision on the Thai government’s policy in driving the country’s economy forward with digital economy, including his views on developing deeper cooperation between Thailand and Hong Kong. The Deputy Prime Minister also shared his perspectives on the current geopolitical landscape, and how ASEAN and Hong Kong could work together to find opportunities in a competing environment. He also emphasized Thailand’s leading role as a chair of the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) negotiation.

H.E. Mr. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR, also gave a speech on Hong Kong’s vision as the gateway to North Asia for the ASEAN region. Other key speakers also included the Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore as well as Deputy Minister of Investment Trade and Industry for Malaysia.
