The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand attended the Asia and Pacific High-Level Conference on Belt and Road Cooperation, where he urged parties to avoid divisive mindset to propel economic recovery from COVID-19 and presented Thailand's high-quality infrastructure and MSMEs as well as advocated cooperation on Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy and connectivity between Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with other economic corridors.

​On 23 June 2021, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand attended the Asia and Pacific High-Level Conference on Belt and Road Cooperation, chaired by China, under the theme “Promoting Cooperation on Combating the Pandemic for Sustainable Recovery”. He was joined by 29 high-level representatives from BRI partner countries and  6 representatives from international and BRI affiliated organisations.

The participants recognised the urgent need to accelerate production and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to developing countries through joint research and development and facilitation of cross-border vaccine distribution. They also supported the vision of environment-friendly post-pandemic growth. The Meeting endorsed 2 outcome documents, namely: (1) Initiative for Belt and Road Partnership on COVID-19 Vaccines Cooperation and (2) Initiative for Belt and Road Partnership on Green Development.

​The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand urged all countries to avoid divisive and winner-take-all mindset and underlined the spirit of cooperation, not confrontation, as a means to overcome the pandemic and propel a strong and sustainable post-pandemic recovery. He expressed Thailand’s readiness to work with the BRI partners to enhance infrastructure and regulatory compatibilities, the Ease of Doing Business, Good governance, and connectivity among different BRI and other economic corridors, as well as the Bio, Circular and Green (BCG) Economy. He also encouraged the BRI to forge closer cooperation with other inter-regional economic frameworks, including but not limited to, APEC, of which Thailand will be hosting the Summit next year. 

​The BRI was officially launched by China in 2013 to promote joint economic growth in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Pacific Islands through development of infrastructure connectivity linking China with more than
140 partner countries, including Thailand.
