From 23-27 August 2025, Prof. Dr. Nazir Mohamed Mohamed Elnazir Ayad, Grand Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt, will visit Thailand as guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He will meet with the President of the Parliament, Sheikhul Islam of Thailand, the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Governor of Pattani Province, and the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center. He will discuss cooperation in issuing religious rulings (fatwa) with the Council of Senior Scholars of the Sheikhul Islam of Thailand. He will also give a lecture for Thai students who will study at Al-Azhar University and students at the Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus, and meet with religious leaders in Bangkok and the southern border provinces. This visit, at the invitation of the Thai side, aims to promote people-to-people relations between Thailand and Egypt in the religious and cultural spheres through the exchange of best practices in issuing religious rulings amid technological changes, including artificial intelligence, and the promotion of moderation and peaceful coexistence in a multicultural society.
