On 22 November 2023, Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, chaired a meeting between Thai Ambassadors and Consuls-General with Governors of the border provinces of Thailand, held as part of the 2023 Meeting of Thai Ambassadors and Consuls-General in Bangkok. Participants at the meeting comprised Mr. Parinya Potisat, the Provincial Governor of Sa Kaeo, Mr. Rachan Soonhua, the Provincial Governor of Nong Khai, Mr. Sawanit Suriyakul Na Ayudhaya, the Deputy Provincial Governor of Tak, Ms. Dutsadee Pruksaset, the Chief of the Office of Songkhla Province, Mr. Chosak Rooying, acting Advisor on Security Affairs, Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior, Mr. Ronnarong Phoolpipat, Director-General of the Department of Foreign Trade, and Mr. Teerapatr Juntakarn, Director of the Division of the Border Security and Neighbouring Countries Affairs, Office of the National Security Council, as well as Thai Ambassadors, Consuls-General and executives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Meeting exchanged information and views on ways to promote border and cross-border trade and security along the borders between Thailand and Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Malaysia. The meeting also followed up on the implementation of the outcomes of the Prime Minister's visits to the neighbouring countries in various important areas, such as infrastructure connectivity both in terms of hardware and software, prevention of transnational crimes and transboundary haze pollution, as well as the opening of new border checkpoints, the facilitation of cross-border travel and the promotion of development cooperation. The Meeting highlighted the importance of close coordination at the local and national levels and affirmed the commitment to working together to promote the well-being of the peoples of Thailand and the neighbouring countries.
