On 4 October 2021, H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha (Ret.), Prime Minister of Thailand, presided over the official handing-over ceremony of medicinal products consisting of 2,000 doses of Casirivimab/Imdevimab from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Royal Thai Government. The ceremony took place at the Government House and was joined by H.E. Mr. Satit Pitutecha, Deputy Minister of Public Health of Thailand, Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Georg Schmidt, Ambassador of Germany to Thailand, who represented the German Government.

The in-kind donation of medicinal products is part of Germany’s humanitarian efforts to support Thailand in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. This warm gesture and contribution reflect the close bonds of friendship as well as the good will between the two countries and peoples.

Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to the German Government and commended Chancellor Merkel on her able leadership which has been widely recognized domestically and internationally during the past 16 years. The two sides also discussed a range of bilateral issues including the strategy of tackling and recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, the preparation for next year’s 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Germany as well as Thailand-Germany cooperation in the field of climate change and environment.
