Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs pushed forward the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model to support sustainable economic growth and economic resilience, vaccines cooperation, and Universal Health Coverage to strengthen global health security in the G7 Foreign and Development Minister's Meeting.

On 12 December 2021, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, attended the G7 Foreign and Development Ministers’ Meeting via videoconference. The Meeting was chaired by H.E. Mrs. Elizabeth (Liz) Truss, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs and Minister for Women and Equalities of the United Kingdom, and attended by the G7 members, the European Union, as well as Guests of the Chair, which included ASEAN Member States.

The ASEAN Foreign Ministers were invited to the G7 meetings for the first time. In this regard, a G7-ASEAN session was organised, where both sides agreed to enhance cooperation between ASEAN and G7 members, who are either Dialogue Partners or Development Partners of ASEAN, in order to support ASEAN in promoting peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, strengthening the ASEAN centrality in the regional architecture, and striving for a sustainable recovery post-COVID-19. Additionally, ASEAN Foreign Ministers participated in other G7 meetings dedicated to discussions on enhanced cooperation in sustainable infrastructure, digital transformation, as well as vaccines and global health security.

DPM/FM Don underlined the importance of major powers working together and the G7’s constructive role in the Indo-Pacific region which can be pursued by undertaking cooperation in the areas identified in the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific. He also pushed forward concrete cooperation in enhancing the capacity of MSMEs for digital transformation , green financing for sustainable and green infrastructure as well as the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model to support sustainable economic growth and economic resilience. On vaccines and global health security, he underlined the importance of equitable vaccine access and distribution, as well as reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to share its expertise on Universal Health Coverage to strengthen health systems and global health security.
