On 1 July 2022, H.E. Mr. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to Thailand, together with Mr. François Corbin, Vice President of MEDEF International (MEDEFi), and special representative of the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, for economic relations with ASEAN countries, leading the French business executives under MEDEFi and representatives from the French Embassy in Bangkok, totalling 28 persons, paid a courtesy call on H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand at Bhakdibodin Building of the Government House. Also present was H.E. Mr. Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy.

The Prime Minister shared his visions and policies in steering Thailand’s economic priorities including the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economic Model, as well as key measures for Thailand’s economic and social recovery after COVID-19. In addition, both sides exchanged views on Thai - French economic activities and projects. The delegation expressed interest in further investing in Thailand and in promoting more economic activities with the Thai private sector especially in transport, smart cities, renewable energy, sustainability and agro-business sector.

The delegation also held meetings with representatives from the Thai public sector such as Dr. Kanit Sangsubhan, Secretary General of Eastern Economic Corridor (Thailand) and representative of the Governor of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

The delegation of French business executives under MEDEFi visited Thailand during 29 June – 1 July 2022 which was the first post-COVID-19 pandemic mission to ASEAN and Thailand is the first country in ASEAN that MEDEFi chose to visit.
