On 27 February 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a joint courtesy call from 19 Ambassadors/delegates of the European Union (EU) Member States, led by H.E. Mr. David Daly, Ambassador of the EU to Thailand. The Foreign Minister and Ambassadors welcomed the stronger Thai-EU partnership through the Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA), the advancement of Thai-EU FTA negotiations and the enhanced cooperation in security and environmental issues.

On this occasion, the Foreign Minister shared the Government’s key priorities in economic and foreign policy focusing on proactive economic diplomacy and Thailand’s vision to become a global manufacturing hub and a regional connectivity hub. He expressed Thailand’s commitment to creating conducive environment for trade and investment by expediting FTAs, raising standard and competitiveness through OECD accession, enhancing infrastructure investment, and promoting green and digital economy. The Foreign Minister also reiterated Thailand’s request for Schengen visa exemption for Thai ordinary passport holders.

Both sides reaffirmed shared commitments to enhancing cooperation in all respects; political and security cooperation, trade and investment, green and digital transitions and sustainable development, bilaterally and withing ASEAN framework for the mutual benefits of the people of both regions. In addition, the Thai and EU sides exchanged views on the issues of mutual interest and concern as well as regional and global issues. Thailand and EU remain committed to providing humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, and to complementing ASEAN’s efforts on this issue.
