On 5 January 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted a working dinner for H.E. Ms. Maria Theresa P. Lazaro, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines.

The Foreign Minister reiterated Thailand’s support for the Philippines’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year. Both sides also discussed the role of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs as Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar, and the latest developments on the Thailand - Cambodia border situation after the ceasefire. The Foreign Minister emphasized Thailand’s firm commitment to supporting peace in Myanmar and upholding the ceasefire with Cambodia in order to ensure peace and stability for the people living along the Thailand - Cambodia border. They also discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Thailand and the Philippines, especially in areas of economic cooperation and combatting transnational crime, particularly online scam networks which pose a security threat to both countries and the international community at large.
