On 13 February 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, together with executives of the Ministry, welcomed H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, on the occasion of his visit to the Ministry. The Prime Minister was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and H.E. Mrs. Suphajee Suthumpun, Minister of Commerce.

Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, briefed the Prime Minister on the Ministry’s mission, stressing the continuity of Thailand’s foreign policy and the implementation under the “Team Thailand” approach, both at headquarters and in missions overseas, to bring the country back on the world’s radar and maintain strategic balance with major powers. The Ministry also aims to strengthen ties with neighboring countries, resolve border issues, and advance Thailand’s roles through various regional and international cooperation frameworks, particularly ASEAN of which Thailand will assume the Chairmanship in 2028. In addition, the Ministry attaches great importance to economic diplomacy and has stepped up the efforts to further build confidence by upgrading national standards through expediting Thailand’s accession to the OECD membership and enhancing the country’s competitiveness, including a transition to green economy and digital economy, and an expansion of economic horizons and new markets. At the same time, the Ministry is strengthening public diplomacy through the promotion of Thai cultural identity worldwide, including Chud Thai (Thailand’s National Costume) which Thailand has officially nominated for inscription on the UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Priority is also given to the protection of Thai nationals abroad, as well as the recent overseas elections which were conducted in an orderly manner.

The Ministry’s executives presented plans for the Prime Minister’s important overseas visits as well as the Ministry’s workplan which will contribute to supporting Thailand's foreign policy. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the work of the Ministry and for “Team Thailand” efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, and Ministry of Finance, which have successfully elevated Thailand’s status on the international stage and brought the country back on the world’s radar, earning praise and trust from the Thai people. He reaffirmed that the new administration will provide stability and support to the Ministry in strengthening Thailand’s foreign policy implementation amidst the current geopolitical challenges. The government aims to restore Thailand as a regional economic leader, enhance the country’s international visibility, as well as to become a prominent part of the global supply chains.
