On 21 October 2024, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Ms. Saratsanun Unnopporn, Chairperson of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and the Committee members to exchange views on foreign policy issues and ways to foster closer cooperation between the two sides in the future.
 
On this occasion, both sides exchanged perspectives on several issues, such as international cooperation to tackle transnational crimes, the situation in Myanmar, Thailand’s efforts in advancing human rights agenda, especially as an elected member of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) for the term 2025 - 2027. In addition, they also exchanged views on Thailand’s intention to join the OECD and BRICS, as well as measures to protect the welfares of Thai nationals residing and working overseas.
 
During the meeting, the Minister emphasised the importance of Thailand’s proactive diplomacy focusing on people-centric approach, which aims to promote the national interests of Thailand and the Thai people. He also highlighted the Ministry’s contributions in strengthening Thailand’s constructive role on the international stage. The House Committee Chairperson, in turn, expressed appreciation to the Ministry’s crucial roles in advancing the national interests through foreign policy, especially the initiatives to promote the welfares of Thai workers in the Middle East and the Republic of Korea. 
 
Both sides acknowledged the benefits of the meeting and expressed readiness to continue to work closely together in the future.
