On 7 November 2024, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the working lunch hosted by H.E. Mr. Wang Yubo, Governor of Yunnan Province, in honour of H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, on the sidelines of the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in Kunming, PRC.

Both sides agreed that the relations between Thailand and Yunnan Province has been cordial and discussed ways to promote cooperation in mutually beneficial areas such as trade, transport routes for agricultural products, and markets for premium quality products. On this occasion, they also exchanged views on how to address cross-border security issues more effectively such as transnational crimes, natural disasters, water resources management, and air pollution. They also agreed to provide assistance to one another's nationals as well as to improve safety standards for tourists.

In addition, both sides reaffirmed full support for celebratory activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and China next year (2025).
