On 7 July 2022, Mr. Sake Nopthaisong, Deputy Director-General, the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs hosted a dinner in honour to East African business delegates from the Republic of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Uganda which visited Thailand during 4-8 July 2022 at the invitation of the Royal Thai Embassy, Nairobi. The purpose of the visit was to promote interaction between the Thai and East African private sectors as well as enhance trade and investments between Thailand and East Africa.

The dinner was attended by Thai delegates and representatives from the Board of Trade of Thailand, the Export-Import Bank of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Thai private sector. The event was successful in creating a platform for dialogue between the Thai and East African private sectors and was aimed to help boost post-COVID-19 economic recovery and expand business opportunities between both sides.
