Following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye on 6 February 2023 resulting in loss of lives, casualties, and destruction of properties and infrastructure in surrounding areas,

H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, sent a message of condolences to H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Türkiye; and H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, sent a message of condolences to H.E. Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, as follows:

 

1. Message of Condolences from H.E. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, to H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Türkiye

 

“Excellency,

 

          I have learned with profound sadness of the tragic news regarding the earthquake in southern Türkiye, which has caused the loss of numerous lives and injuries.

          On behalf of the Government and the people of Thailand, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of Türkiye, and especially to the bereaved families. I wish to further extend, through Your Excellency, the strength and courage to your country and people to remain strong during this difficult time.

          I have learned with deep sorrow of the tragic earthquake in the southern provinces of Türkiye, causing irreparable loss of lives, thousands of injuries, as well as extensive destruction.

          On behalf of the Royal Thai Government, the Thai people, and on my own behalf, I would like to extend my sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to you as well as to the bereaved families and those affected by this devastating disaster.
