On 27 September 2021, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand had a bilateral meeting with the US Senator Tammy Duckworth during his visit to Washington, D.C. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his appreciation for Senator Duckworth’s role in promoting Thailand-US relations. Both sides discussed issues of shared priorities, including climate change. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted Thailand’s active role as ASEAN Coordinator on Sustainable Development Cooperation and Thailand’s priorities during APEC Host Year in 2022, particularly the Bio-Circular- Green (BCG) Economy Model, which will complement the efforts to address the issues of climate change and environment as well as to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Deputy Prime Minister and Miniter of Foreign Affairs expressed sincere thanks to Senator Duckworth for following up on the additional 1 million doses of vaccine assistance from the US for Thailand. Both sides were pleased that the US side will hold the Thai-US Working Group meeting this week to commence the process of such vaccine delivery.

Both sides also discussed cooperation towards economic recovery particularly promoting BCG Economy Model and strengthening supply chain.

In addition, both sides exchanged views on the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the idea of the Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific (FTAAP).
