On 23 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Ms. Julide Kayıhan, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Thailand, on the occasion of the Ambassador’s assumption of duty. 

Both sides agreed to promote and move forward cooperation in preparation for elevating Thailand - Türkiye relations to a Strategic Partnership by 2028. They also discussed ways to promote bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Türkiye in various fields, including the exchange of high-level visits, the establishment of a Joint Commission for Bilateral Relations between the two Foreign Ministers, security and defence industry cooperation, and economic collaboration. They emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral trade and promoting Turkish investment in Thailand, including in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). They discussed cooperation within the frameworks of ASEAN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as well as in the Southern Border Provinces of Thailand.

Both sides exchanged views on regional and global issues, and the role of Thailand and Türkiye on the international stage. The Deputy Prime Minister also thanked the Turkish side for their assistance in facilitating the safe passage of Thai nationals evacuated from Iran in late 2025 and earlier this year.
