On 19 August 2023, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, on the occasion of DPM/FM Don’s working visit to Beijing, the PRC.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance Thailand - China bilateral relations to realise the creation of a Thailand - China community with a shared future for enhanced stability, prosperity and sustainability, as agreed upon by leaders of both sides. Towards this end, they agreed that it was necessary to continue regular exchanges of high-level visits, and enhance regional connectivity by advancing the Thailand - Laos - China Connectivity Development Corridor Outlook, including the Thailand - China railway project and the linking of China-Laos railway with Thailand’s railway system. Furthermore, they discussed investment promotion in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) of Thailand, particularly in electric vehicles (EV), solar and low-carbon industries. They shared the view that they needed to strengthen cooperation on combating transnational crimes along borders areas between Thailand and neighboring countries, especially telecommunication scams, online gambling and human trafficking. Both sides also discussed cooperation in multilateral frameworks, such as Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC), ASEAN - China and BRICS, and also exchanged views on recent regional and international developments of mutual interest.
