On 14 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, on the sidelines of the 2026 BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi.

Both sides reaffirmed the longstanding and close relations between Thailand and Russia, which will mark the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027. They also discussed expanding cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, tourism, energy, and food security.

In addition, the two sides exchanged views on the situation in Myanmar and coordination of cooperation within multilateral frameworks, including ASEAN – Russia and BRICS.
