Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs meets President of JETRO Bangkok

On 18 April 2025, H.E. Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Mr. Kuroda Jun, President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Bangkok, who presented the results of the Survey on Business Sentiment of Japanese Corporations in Thailand for the second half of 2024. Mr. Jun also shared with the Secretary to the FM, the economic policy recommendations from members of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce Bangkok (JCCB) and JETRO.
 
The Secretary to the FM and the President of JETRO also shared views regarding global economic trends and the challenges faced by businesses amid the current economic landscape. Both sides also discussed Japan’s automotive industry, on which Thailand and Japan will have policy discussion in the upcoming Thailand-Japan Energy and Industry Dialogue (EID).
 
In addition, the Secretary to the FM expressed appreciation for the continued confidence of the Japanese businesses in Thailand. In response, the President of JETRO reaffirmed that Japanese businesses intend to maintain Thailand as a key production base and requested continued support from the Thai government to ensure smooth business operations. The Thai side reiterated Thailand’s readiness to support Japanese businesses in Thailand and encouraged continued dialogue to deepen economic engagement between both countries. Both sides also agreed on the importance of strengthening ASEAN’s economic unity to enhance regional trade connectivity and reduce operational costs through improved efficiency.
