On 16 August 2024, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, discussed with Mr. Christian Hainzl, Regional Manager of the United Nations Volunteer programme (UNV) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, and Mr. Niels Knudsen, UNV Chief of External Relations and Communications Sections, on opportunities to enhance partnerships between Thailand and the UNV, particularly in promoting greater participation of Thai nationals within the UN system through the UNV programme.

Such initiative would help increase the capability of Thai nationals through the exchange of knowledge and experience at the international level and allow Thai nationals to play a greater role in shaping the agendas and policy recommendations of the UN. In addition, both sides also discussed collaboration on initiatives and activities leading up to the 2026 International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development.
