On 3 April 2023, Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Director-General of the Department of Information, participated in a seminar between the Thai media and the Cambodian media to exchange views on best practices and experiences at the Royal River Hotel Bangkok.

DG Kanchana gave opening remarks, stressing that the media has a significant role in reporting factfully, creating the right understanding, and preventing the spread of fake news which may cause negative effects. DG Kanchana also emphasized the role of the media to foster people-to-people relations.

The President of the National Press Council of Thailand and the President of the Club of Cambodian Journalists presented the background and the operating procedures of each organization. The media from both sides then exchanged best practices and experiences on media profession as well as discussed ways to enhance media practices in order to better adjust and handle the current global situation, including the increasing role of social media.

This seminar is a part of the activities under the Cambodian Media’s Visit Programme to Thailand. The Cambodian media delegation is visiting Thailand during 31 March - 4 April 2023.
